North Peninsula Recreation Center is taking registrations for Nikiski Youth Basketball. Teams are available for 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade boys and girls, both coed and interleague. The Kenai and Soldotna Firefighters plus volunteers from the Kenai Peninsula Central Emergency Services will hold their annual “Fill-the-Boot” campaign! This is to benefit the Alaska Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and will be held 11am to 5pm September 2nd and 3rd at the Soldotna “Y” intersection. The Kenai Challenger Learning Cneter of Alaska is having a geocache rally fundraiser on September 17th from 10am to 7pm. The day starts with a pancake breakfast, and then participating teams will work together to solve strategic GPS and science challenges. Entertainment, a barbeque and prizes will follow the search. Kenai Peninsula College will be having an upcoming exhibit specifically designed to show art from the art department faculty for their students. Taz Tally is an amazing photographer who specializes in black and white photography and is a new adjunct art professor for KPC. Tally has a doctorage in geology and has been a university professor teaching geology, geopgraphy, and environmental studies. Currently, Tally teaches photoshop classes at KPC and teaches creative digital photography at the Kachemak Bay campus. Kenai Central High School has a new head coach, John Marquez, that was hired before this season to continue the Kardinals’ successful tradition.
