Habit #3 Flexibility As the home buyer, you should be flexible. Remember there is another person on the other side of the transaction. Unless you’re having your home built for you, on the Kenai Peninsula it isn’t very likely you’ll find the exact house you’re looking for. If you have some flexibility along with your must haves you’ll find the process less painful. You should also remember that later down the road, that pink countertop can be replaced with the granite countertop of your dreams.
Effective Habit #2 Wants and Needs. Tell your agent, “I want a 3 bedroom 3 bath house in the Kenai Peninsula area.” Your agent will provide you with a list of homes that meet your criteria. Instead, try telling you agent, “I’m looking for a 3 bedroom 2 bath home between $160-185k. Two story, with a two car garage in the Kenai or Nikiski area.” Your list will be narrowed down to around 20 homes. Looking at around 20 potential homes is something you CAN do. Make a list of what you … Continue reading

In today’s lending environment you should know before you home search what type of mortgage and much of a mortgage you can get. The majority of sellers want to see some sort of evidence that you can get a loan for the home. The fact is many homes listed for sale get multiple offers; you wouldn’t want your offer going to the end of the pile because you failed to submit a pre-qualification letter. It is also important to work … Continue reading
